Finally here is the first version of u-load, the open source client for the Ucreate Music Mixer device.
The best way to start is to read the README file, to understand how the app works.
There are some Mario Kart N64 samples in the "Recordings" directory. (Greatest multiplayer game of all times).
Be sure your Ucreate is on firmware version 09, I havent tested it with 08.
Grab the files here on gitorious. Small changes on LopGenerator too, now without that little "clack" noise at the beginning of the lop files(I hope you know what I mean :D )
If you have some problems get in touch with me, I am willing to help everyone ;)
I made a twitter account a while ago, I start using it and I will use it to tweet about small updates which arent worth a post.
If someone is interessted of how to reverse the USB protocol, I will be happy to share.

thanks man! trying it out now.
ReplyDeletehey marbs thanx very much for doing this. i don´t have right now a ucreate toy, but i want one now! thanx for sharing your software
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, many thanks for putting in the time. Whats the easiest way to get the app off gitorious, I couldn't see an obvious download link, keen to try this out over the weekend.
ReplyDeleteAhh ha… found it…
ReplyDelete"USAGE:
Before using u-load you should update the firmware to 09!
Make sure you grab all files correctly from gitorious. To do this, go to gitorious -> source tree, on the right sight click "Download master as tar.gz", this file contains all files for u-load and LopGenerator."
Thanks !
oh another quick question. Do you happen to have any tips for compiling and running this under OSX?
ReplyDeleteI am already working on this with scragz, so be patient :)
ReplyDeleteHi! first of all many thanks for developing and posting the software. maybe im a little too stupid, but i got a little problem. when i open uload it writes that there is no ucreate connected. it is , pc finds it, firmware is 16.
ReplyDeletecould it be the uload wont run under windows 7 64 bit?
thanks and best wishes
Hi Marbs. I've been playing with u-load for a little while now and although I've gotten some good sounds out of my ucreate with it, I'm having trouble producing consistent results. Sometimes a sample just plain won't work, sometimes it has a sort of glitchy tremolo quality, and only a small margin of time does a sample sound somewhat similar to the file I input. I've followed your tutorial instructions, ensuring the files are 5 second 8 bit unsigned mono wav files. There must be some detail I'm missing. I was hoping you could help me figure out where I'm going wrong here.
ReplyDeletethey have to be stereo not mono, 2 bars at 96BPM [tempo] i'm making a detailed tutorial also and i will post it on every comment section about u-create that i find
Delete*HELP!*
ReplyDeleteI have my samples proper in my Recordings/Samples folders and I am trying to write the full bank of 12...
U-load recognizes
I press '4' "write sample Package" -right?
Then get "Sample Package file name:" -what am I supposed to type here?
I have tried: "Samples" and "Rcordings" and have gotten back:
"Can not open rb! File name correct?"
What am i doing wrong? Please help!
I am dying to use my ucreate
you have to use lop gen first then take your lop files put them in samples then run the program type 2 for make sample package,it will ask you to name it then it will run and close when done, restart your device then open u load then type 4 it asks for the name of the file type the name you just typed and hit enter it will take a moment to complete but it will tell you when its done
DeleteHi Marbs
ReplyDeleteI'm having the same problem as Schleeger
I downloaded zadig and placed it into the u-load folder (the subfolder, just before precompiled) and installed the driver - GENERAL PLUS-MSDC shows up as a libusb in my device manager, but when I open uload (for Windows) I get the following:
"No Ucreate Music Mixer Device connected! Connect your Ucreate and restart the program"
I've tried restarting both the program and the mixer several times and nothing.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Hi Marbs,
ReplyDeleteSame problem here...any light about what I (we) might be doing Wrong?
Cheers for all your work!
Bill
I had a breakthrough, you have to use specifically zadig v1.1.1.137 newer versions don't work.
ReplyDeletehttp://sourceforge.net/projects/libwdi/files/zadig/zadig_v1.1.1.137.7z/download
in zadig at the right your device should show up as
VID=1B3F [vendor id] PID=3201 [product id]
I used the WinUSB driver
also make sure your u create is powered when its plugged into the computer it will not work without power and the usb cable doesn't power the device (either batteries or if you've added an external power mod)
*at the left side of zadig is where your VID and PID show up*
Deleteit appears marbs has disappeared from the internet so...
ReplyDeleteIf anyone knows how to code and has one of these devices please contact me at inyanoggin@gmail.com
I'm trying to get a few functions he left out working and also figure out why some slots don't sound right and how we can fix the code
we do know that loops have to be 1 bar at 48 tempo to loop perfect and sound right with the tempo function on the device
1 bar at 48bpm or 2 bars at 96bpm, stereo not mono, can be any format going into audacity but needs to be exported as other in 8 bit pcm with .wav header, and make sure to set your project rate to 8000 hz

Greetings from the future
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone has a copy of u-load? because gitorious.org is not available anymore. I'm getting a Ucreate in a few days and I'm looking forward to experiment with it.
Regards.
